“Introducing the Duo Russo & Vilensky, a successful combination of the elegance of the cello, with the passion of the bandoneon, transcending limitations imposed by genres and styles, in pursuit of expressing authenticity and creative freedom”.

Italian pianist/bandoneonist Paolo Russo and Latvian cellist Ruslan Vilensky started the Duo Russo & Vilensky in September 2013 and have since then been active both on the Danish scene and in the Baltic countries.

This recording, beside the two different duo constellations (cello/bandoneon and cello/piano) also features a small string ensemble in a few tunes. The repertoire revolves around Paolo Russo’s original compositions and arrangements, besides a small excursion into the works of a few old and contemporary composers (O. Strok, A. Piazzolla, D. Schissi).
